Lobby Attendant (Part Time only)

CLASS DEFINITION:

A Part-time Security Guard is primarily responsible for maintaining a post to greet and direct visitors and guest of the Baltimore Convention Center to events and area attractions while insuring that facility is properly secured and that no unauthorized individuals are in restricted areas.

Incumbents receive moderate supervision from the Public Safety Supervisors. Employees in this class work as needed; however, must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays. Work requires minimal exertion with prolong periods of standing. This position does not involve apprehending and/or arresting persons engaged in illegal activity.

TYPICAL EXAMPLES OF THE WORK:

  • Greets and directs visitors and guests to events and area attractions.
  • Alerts full-time Public Safety Officers, Supervisors, and/or appropriate authorities when needed.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • Ability to detect problems and report information to appropriate personnel.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others.
  • Ability to walk long distances, remain in standing position for extended periods of time, and to climb multilevel stairwells.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Education – High School Diploma or GED Certificate.

Experience – One year of security or related experience.
